Bio
This is the 33rd year of IMAGE, an annual judged art show for visual artists residing in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Pine Counties (Region 7E). Sponsored by the East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC), IMAGE is a celebration of artists living and creating in Region 7E. This year the show is online due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
A total of 159 artists from all over the 5 County Region have entered the show in seven categories including Painting; Opaque, Painting; Transparent, Drawing, Photography, 3D Functional Sculpture, 3D Non-Functional Sculpture, and Other Art Forms.
This year's IMAGE awards are: Best of Show ($500); and in each category: an Excellence Award ($200 each); Merit Awards ($150 each). In addition, artwork entered will be eligible for People's Choice ($300) and Purchase Awards. These awards (with the exception of People's Choice) were announced on June 15, 2020. The People's Choice Ballots were collected through June 30th. Everyone viewing the show was allowed one vote for their favorite piece of artwork and the winner was Judy Wolf of Grasston for her photo entitled Reflections of a Life Well Lived. All award winning pieces of art are pictured below. The Purchase Awards were named on July 27: Jean Crocker of Cambridge for Apricot Afternoon II; Cadence Eischens of Stacy for Dreaming of Avalon; Terri Huro of Brook Park for Jackalope; and Patricia Larson of Sturgeon Lake for Three Sentinels and the Seer.
The East Central Regional Arts Council had very high hopes for an in-person Art Show at the gallery in Hinckley from September 1 to October 30, 2020. However, on July 27 it was decided that there will not be a gallery exhibit for the IMAGE Art Show 2020 after all. The safety of artists, staff and the viewing public is of the utmost importance and ECRAC would not want to risk anyone’s health, even in the slightest way. We hope to see you, and your artwork, in person again next year.
