Join us for Winter Colors: Soundscapes for Flute and Piano, featuring flutist Eva Elizabeth Skanse and pianist Ekaterina Knyazeva. This noon-time concert, inspired by the icy blues, evergreen needles and warm, pink-orange glows of the Minnesota winter takes us through a variety of 19th, 20th, and 21st century composers. Immerse yourself in the colors of Ian Clarke, Freidrich Kuhlau, an original arrangement of a work by Edgar Girtain, and revel in the drama Cesar Franck's beloved Sonata. The concert will take place in the Summit Room on the ground floor of the University Club, which is an ADA accessible venue.

Ekaterina Knyazeva is a concert solo pianist and chamber musician renowned for her captivating performances that traverse continents and transcend musical boundaries. With a career spanning prestigious concert halls across Europe, Russia, and the United States, Ekaterina has established herself as a formidable force in the world of classical music.
Ekaterina’s musical journey has taken her to renowned venues such as The Mariinsky Theater and Philharmonic Halls in St. Petersburg, The Laeiszhalle, Tschaikowsky-Saal, and Mozart-Säle in Hamburg, and Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow, among others.
Her performances as a soloist with orchestras including the Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, Novgorod Philharmonic Orchestra, Taurida Symphony Orchestra and others.
Ekaterina’s artistry extends beyond borders, as evidenced by her participation in major international festivals such as Musiksommer am Zurichsee in Switzerland and Kammermusik am Hafen, Schlossfestspiele Hohenpriessnitz Machern, and Music Islands in Germany. In 2018, she led the esteemed concert series “Weltklassik am Clavier” in Zurich and served as a visiting professor at the Pianoonline Academy in Alpnachstad, Switzerland.
As a prize winner of numerous international and national competitions, Ekaterina has continually pushed musical boundaries. Her collaborations with contemporary composers such as Sergey Slonimsky and Igor Vorobiev have showcased her versatility and dedication to expanding the classical repertoire. Ekaterina’s commitment to fostering young talent is evident through her support of children’s performing arts, as seen in her collaboration with Slonimsky on a disc of piano pieces released by the publishing house “Composer” in 2013.
Ekaterina has appeared multiple times on Russian radio and TV, and has been enthusiastically covered by newspapers as a Badische Zeitung (Germany), Nice Matin (France), El Diario Vasco (San Sebastián), Badische Neueste Nachrichten (Baden-Baden), as well as numerous Russian publications.
Ekaterina studied in St. Petersburg, graduating with honors from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory and its postgraduate program. Her life's goal is to spread culture, enlightenment, and education through a love of music, which she instills in her students around the world. In 2021 Ekaterina released two solo albums recorded at the Radio House in St. Petersburg. Same year she moved to the United States, where she continues her concert activities and teaching.
