The Kanabec County History Center serves as the home of the Kanabec County Historical Society.  Our Mission:  We are a bridge between those who preceded us and those who will follow us.  Let us preserve and honor the best of yesterday, that it may guide us to a better tomorrow.


The Kanabec County History Center is proud to hold the Paul Kilgore Series event. Paul Kilgore is a noted author of several articles and books containing rich history and many stories from the Kanabec County area.  Paul Kilgore grew up in Kanabec County and has proven to be a great asset in helping us to preserve our history.  


His published works include Losing Camille, short story collection; The Broken Key, novel; A Window into the Attic, history/memoir; and several short stories in numerous publications.  He has won awards from Minnesota Monthly’s Tamarack Award, St. Lawrence Book Award, was a Finalist for Minnesota Book Award, Winner of Prairie Home Companion’s Valentine’s Day Sonnet Contest, he was awarded inclusion in the Minnesota Poetry Calendar, and was also selected as a Community Columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press.


Come join us for an interesting account of notable characters from our past, the leaders who directed us, and hear some of the small-town stories that have made  Kanabec County a home for many!  If you are from or know someone within Kanabec County, you won’t want to miss this educational and fun series!
