Figure Drawing Co-Op

Figure Drawing The goal of figure drawing (also known as life drawing) is to capture the essence of the human form – its muscles, texture, postures, and movement. In a life drawing co-op we practice seeing and drawing forms, proportions, perspective, shading, and other essential art fundamentals. Drawing a figure from life is a unique challenge, and the camaraderie that comes from working with other artists in the same space is wonderful! What to expect: We work with a professional model, who will create poses for us to draw from. This class is self- led, but timing and discussion are run by a facilitator. We begin with a series of quick poses (1-2 minutes). This is ideal to practice loosening up, and for creating gesture drawings. Poses will slowly get longer, until we get to a 20 minute pose (or two) at the end of class. After class feel free to stay while people show off their drawings, and have a light discussion about process, materials, challenges, and successes. This is a low/no pressure opportunity to learn from peers and yourself! Please bring materials to draw/create with. Some people choose to use charcoal, graphite, watercolor, colored pencils, etc. to practice with, but bring what feels best to you! Cost: $10 paid at the door Age- 18+ (Because this class works with a nude model, participants should be 18+) Instructor: This class is self-led; however, it is facilitated by Surelle Strike.
